I think that's plenty of good reason? This sounds judgmental and I don't think that's what she was looking for. Well it is when I'm surrounded by a bunch of drunks bumping into me plus having to clean up after them..
As a former waitress, bartender, bar and restaurant manger, including during my first pregnancy it is more than exhausting. Unhappy customers leave lower tips and have poor return rates so mom just works harder for both her and her employer to have less and less return.
OP you need to get your OB to give a detailed notice of what you can and cannot do and under what circumstances. For example: No 8 hour shifts without at least x many x minute breaks, no lifting over x amount.
While they can't write that you can't close if you're unable to do some of the closing tasks they may move you to an earlier shift if not at least more breaks or shorter shifts may help. I would honestly ask my doctor for a note to give to my boss to put you on an earlier shift.
If it's that much of an issue. I'm a licensed massage therapist and when I found out I was pregnant baby 2 I made my boss take me off of 2 hours and hot stones right away because I remember it being an issue with my 1st. I wanted to get a head before I got booked. I tend to get booked months a head so I wanted to be ready.
Ask for a note if your boss isn't being respectful. Been bartending 8 years now, took my whole first pregnancy off and now I'm working as long as I can through this one. I work solid 9 hour shifts with absolutely NO breaks or time to sit. Yes, it's illegal but that's my job.
I'm down to 2 shifts a week and they kill me feet and legs. I feel you. And trying to stay hydrated is a pain because it will be rush time and I'm about to pee my pants lol. Invest in good shoes. Cut back when you need. Stay hydrated. Don't hold your pee. You'll be okay. I quite enjoy my job especially when pregnant. It keeps me active and customers always want the details. It's been fun seeing regulars wonder if I've packed on weight or if they should congratulate me.
Every job sucks while pregnant. When I was pregnant with my first I was working 24 hours at a time in the icu.
It was exhausting and physical work: intubation, line placements, cpr. It was rough. Just find ways to make it more tolerable. And maybe ask your boss to start putting you on an early shift once you hit xx weeks.
That way there is a goal and they may be more accommodating if it isn't an immediate need. I would try getting some compression socks. I work at a hospital and I am on my feet all day pulling and pushing patients around and they aren't light these days! I work late shifts and busy through the night shifts. Also invest in a few pairs of dr. I got me black ones right below my knee. I would wear them under my regular socks.
That's why I recommend a size bigger. Also, halfway through my shift, if I felt my shoes were getting too tight swelling I'd take the regular socks off.
That happened especially on the 9th month. I worked all the way up to my last week. About lifting heavy stuff, please google and study best posture for safe lifting techniques. By heavy, I mean things that make you hold your breath box of two dozen ketchup bottles, in your case?
If you feel anything is humanly impossible to lift, please don't be shy to ask for a hand. Working in a men dominant environment, I promise I overhear men asking other men for a hand, all the time. It has nothing to do with being pregnant and physically inferior.
Don't strain your back just to prove a point, not worth the stupid ketchup bottles lol. Sorry too long, but I hope I could be of help.
I currently do! I am 31 weeks and have noticed braxton hicks lately. I switched to day shifts only since they are calmer and shorter shifts. Most of my customers are noticing I am pregnant and are very patient if I am a little slow or forget something,,, haha. My managers are also very great with letting me sit down at the end of my shoft to finish sidework. I also bought the gel inserts for my nonslip shoes to make them more comfortable. Good luck mama. We can do it! And bartend.
You might get better tips! Everyone at work is really helpful they won't let me carry anything and I constantly get fed. It just gets annoying that every table asks how far along you are. I served up to the day I had my dd.
She was my first pregnancy, and it was a breeze This pregnancy is my second, and I was serving and bartending. I had to stop at 20 weeks, which sucks. This study, however, may indicate a need for employers to be more flexible with their leave policies. Of course, there are plenty of other needs most employers should look at when it comes to maternity policies as well, so I guess this should be added to the heap.
It's really too bad how difficult it can be for women to work and bring children into the world , and I hope studies like this continue to show the importance of giving women the flexibility and support they need to give their babies the best possible start. Will this study change your plans? Is there anything more fun than tie-dyeing your own clothing?
It's such a blast to pick out bright colors, twist up your clothing, dye it, and then untie it to see your beautiful creation. It's a fun activity for kids and adults alike!
Want to make your own tie-dye clothing? It's really easy! Next, find some items you want to tie-dye; we'd recommend t-shirts, socks, and pillowcases! Before you start tie-dyeing, make sure you put down some plastic like a tarp or big plastic bags and wear clothing you're not too attached to. Even better, just head outside. Once your tie-dyeing is done and you've washed and dried your clothing, have an at-home fashion show to show off your new creations.
Time to clock out?
