Look at the power supply. I've seen systems start up on their own in the middle of the night. Power supply issues also tend to not reboot the computer. It will just shut off. Just follow the instructions posted at one of the web sites below, read each of the steps carefully so you understand what you will be doing a step by step before you actually start the repair process.
